Look at the pretty fireball in the sky!

I was watching the coverage of the Air France crash in Toronto last night.
My favourite quote, and it's okay to have a favourite quote because everybody got out alive:

~~~~
Reporter: After the emergency doors were opened, was there any pushing and shoving?
Passenger: No, it was pretty calm. Everyone was really focused on getting off the plane.
~~~~
Yeah, no duh!
Fuck, but were those guys ever lucky to survive that crash-landing.

Coming to work I saw that all the newspapers headlines screamed:

A MIRACLE!

THE GREAT ESCAPE!

UN MIRACLE! ( A miracle!)

UN BEL ÉCHAPPE (A great escape!)

Which begs the question: If everyone thinks that it's miraculous that the passengers survived a crash landing this must mean that no one is actually expected to make it out alive, right?

So, remind me again why I always bother watch the stewardess do her safety skit and concientiously study the safety flyers in the seat-pouch in front of me?

Just curious...

You make some interesting points. Be on the lookout for men in black (noir?) from AirFrance that come looking for you. :)
