Yes, fortunately our judicial system does work even when our legislatures have their heads stuck where the sun don't shine. The checks & balances thing does actually work on occasion.

This is just so sad all around. We actually had a similar case here in Virginia about 6 years ago and the Governor tried to get involved. The courts basically told him to go jump in a lake, and made the state pay the additional legal costs that the surviving spouse had to incur because of the Governor got involved.

Yeah. Hurray for checks and balances. It's easy to freak out a bit when the pendulum seems to be swinging too far past our comfort zone but that's what pendulums do. I know that I need to remember this and not overreact or overcompensate when things look out of balance.

Steer small; that's the idea.

I was relieved when I heard that. I feel for her family, I really do. I just hope that they find some peace but they should just let her go.

As hard as it is, there comes a time when one must let go. I think that sometimes people forget that.
I wish that peace for them too.

Perhaps sanity harkens after all. It'd be a nice change from the staus quo, wouldn't you say? :)
