Okay, it's really cool in a majorgeekish manner but really, is this Eunicycle any great improvement over Thor's Wheel

heh, seriously.
I'm assuming, however, that the part he stands on is a free spinning axle in the wheel, thus not scraping against his feet.

Splintering would most likely occur during intense braking maneuvres; that's my guess.
